Operation Gracyn is a site dedicated to helping 4 year old Gracyn Rhodes of Georgia receive the surgery she needs to help her battle Spastic Diplegia, a form of Cerebral Palsy. Because she was a preemie, the nerves in her brain were very delicate and not yet protected. For some unexplained reason she had bleeding in her brain which damaged those nerves; nerves that tell her legs when to tighten and when to relax. This results in Gracyn’s nerves telling her leg muscles to tighten too much and too often, which is called Spasticty. This causes her to walk on her toes, have poor balance and coordination, and weak muscles. All of which prevent her from doing the things she loves like dancing, riding her bike, and just being a little girl.
